Birth is the most significant moment of a woman’s life. More powerful and life-changing than even her wedding day.

Birth Photography captures the emotional connection between mum-to-be and her partner at this significant phase of their lives, her journey through labour, and the powerful emotion of meeting her baby for the first time.

Incredible. Emotional. Powerful.

Photography is purely documentary/journalistic approach. There is absolutely no posing - it is about capturing the moment sensitively and discreetly. I try to seem almost invisible so as to be no distraction for the mum-to-be.

How it works

As we don't know when baby will arrive, birth photography is certainly a logistical challenge. The shoot is likely to be longer than your average wedding - but unlike a wedding we don't know the date!

But as I am super-organised by nature, it's a challenge I relish. It's stress-free for you as a client - there is nothing for you to do except book your package & then call me when labour begins.

Birth Photography packages are priced from £650 for photography and a full gallery of high-resolution digitals. All Birth Photography packages are customised to the client, whether you want to a keepsake album or to include a postnatal "Fresh 48 " session to capture natural portraits during your baby's first few days.

Birth photography packages all include :

Icebreaker meeting - A chance to get to know each other, discuss your birth plan, find out your wishes & explain the process. It is essential that I establish a bond and trust with you beforehand so you will feel completely comfortable with me during labour.

On-call cover - On call for your birth, 24/7 from week 38 until birth.

Birth Photography Shoot - From 5cm (approx) my full attention documenting your journey - until 1 to 2 hours after baby arrives.

Prioritisation - I book only 1 birth per month so I can offer you my full attention. On the very rare occasion where a birth shoot overlaps with one of my other photo shoots, you will obviously get priority and other shoots are rescheduled to a later date, and those client given print vouchers as compensation for their time.

    Ellie in the news

I was recently featured in the press due to going "above and beyond" in service as birth photographer. But rest assured this is a very rare event indeed!

Note : I want to make it clear that Birth Photography images are only shared if both clients are in full agreement. Mum and dad, Cat and Will, were so overjoyed with their images and birth that they were keen to share it with the press. But if you wish to keep all your images private you are absolutely able to do so. I take client's privacy very seriously.
